In Champions League Win, Ajax Show The Rest Of Italy How To Topple Juventus
By beating Juventus in the Champions League, Ajax may have just shown the rest of Italy how to beat the Old Lady.
Thursday morning’s edition of Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport offered some advice as to how to beat reigning champions Juventus. The Old Lady may have crashed out of Europe in midweek, but they have won the last seven consecutive Serie A titles — and will likely add an eighth this weekend.
The famous pink paper declares that Ajax have “shown the way to catch them [Juventus]” through the way that their young side played with “heart” in the Champions League. The only team who play in a similar way in the Italian top flight are Atalanta, who have defeated the Old Lady in both domestic action and by knocking them out of the Coppa Italia.

By building a young and passionate side, the newspaper claims, many Serie A teams can find a way to circumnavigate Juve’s clear financial dominance. The statement will certainly create a talking point as it remains to be seen whether this would be enough to win the league over the course of the season, especially with the Bianconeri currently sitting 17 points ahead of second-placed Napoli.
