While FC Cincinnati fans buzz about the rumored hiring of Ron Jans as the next head coach, the team preps itself for a trip to Toronto.

A stoppage-time penalty from Wayne Rooney helped D.C. United earn a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Audi Field against Toronto FC. Former United midfielder Nick DeLeon gave the visitors the lead in the 19th minute, scoring in his first game back at Buzzard Point. United were spared their third loss at home this year though in stoppage time after a penalty was awarded from a video review.

Just days removed from Wayne Rooney's latest heroics, D.C. United have the chance to take six points from their first two games of the second half of the season as they host Toronto FC at Audi Field. It is the second meeting this year between the two teams, after the Black-and-Red clawed out a point north of the border in May, having kept a clean sheet despite allowing 36 shots to the Reds.

D.C. United probably weren't awarded any style points by the judges last night against Toronto FC, but nonetheless, the Black-and-Red left BMO Field with a point in a 0-0 draw. United, with a heavily rotated squad, surrendered 35 shots throughout the game, the third most in a single game in MLS history. But few of those shots resulted in good scoring opportunities for the Reds, which allowed D.C. to keep their seventh clean sheet of the season.

A year ago in Canada, D.C. United split points with Toronto FC in a wild 4-4 draw. On Wednesday night, the result was the same, but obtained in a completely different fashion, in a 0-0 draw at BMO Field. Fielding a lineup with seven changes from the team on Sunday night, the Black-and-Red were outshot 35-3, but kept the Reds from having many good looks at goal.
D.C. United walked off Audi Field late on Sunday night after grinding out a 1-0 victory over visiting Sporting Kansas City. It was the team's second win in a row, a hard-earned victory thanks to a great goal from Paul Arriola. But there was hardly anytime to relish in the victory, or even take a look back at what might have worked or not worked over 90 minutes, as United had to ensure they were ready for their next game, a quick turnaround for a Wednesday night trip to face Toronto FC.

While Carlos Vela is currently the talk of Major League Soccer, and rightfully so with a staggering 12 goals in 12 games, few players have had a more immediate, transformative impact in recent memory than Alejandro Pozuelo with Toronto FC. D.C. United will have their hands full in trying to contain Pozuelo and company as they take on the Reds at BMO Field on Wednesday night.
After five midweek games, this weekend in MLS was one of the tamer bouts of action of the season so far. There was just one game in which both teams scored multiple goals, though that affair between Sporting Kansas City and the New England Revolution had just about everything. There could have been a couple of more goals this weekend, too, if not for glaring misses from Dom Dwyer and Christian Ramirez.

This weekend in MLS featured the Parley jerseys, made by adidas from recycled plastic. It's an interesting idea from the league, but it caused plenty of confusion for fans watching the games. This was the third year of the Parley jerseys, and for the second consecutive year every game featured the two different jerseys. That made it difficult to remember which team was which in any given game, as teams were sometimes wearing unfamiliar colors.

It’s the league that keeps on giving. We’re roughly twenty percent into the MLS season and we’ve been treated to a host of engrossing storylines that encapsulate the very best that Major League soccer has to offer, including Carlos Vela magic out west, a seemingly endless fan march in southwest Ohio, and a wondrous cathedral to the game opening in Minnesota.

Five different players scored two goals in MLS this weekend, highlighted by a pair of goalkeeping gaffes, and ended on an unfortunate note on Sunday night. It was another weekend in which all 24 teams in MLS were in action and another weekend in which Los Angeles FC won. The April favorites to win Supporters Shield this year beat FC Cincinnati 2-0 on Saturday night to get to 19 points from seven games. Carlos Vela scored again, as Bob Bradley's side continues to impress week in and week out.

We take a look at the Columbus Crew, Toronto FC, New England’s Andrew Farrell, and an unexpected Maradona move in this week’s MLS Little Things from FloFC.
Goalkeepers are an underappreciated breed. But that won’t stop us from devouring and revelling in the mistakes they make, sometimes catastrophic, sometimes inconsequential. Morbid curiosity is a hell of a drug—we know these goalkeepers are expected to be perfect and could end up benched if they commit too important a blunder. It’s the “you had one job” phenomenon: It’s fascinating when a person with theoretically one important task screws up in the public eye.

A weekend full of games in MLS once again produced plenty of goals, drama, and moments. With only Atlanta United and the Houston Dynamo off, the 11 games from Friday night to Sunday produced four penalty saves, a seven-goal thriller, and a blowout in what was supposed to be the game of the weekend.

After a week of blowouts, a high-flying debut, and some of the wackiest weather MLS has seen, let’s look at some Little Things from Week 5, including Alejandro Pozuelo and TFC, the Red Bulls’ loss at Chicago, and water soccer in Columbus.
