The South Atlantic Conference announced its Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the first week of the 2022 season. Mars Hill forward Peter Plougmand was named the offensive player of the week, while Coker goalkeeper Jasper Rump was named defensive player of the week.

Plougmand, a sophomore from Odense, Demark, led the Lions to a pair of season-opening victories last week with a 2-0 win over No. 14 Chowan and a 4-2 win over Lees-McRae. He scored a goal against Chowan and then found the back of the net twice with an assist versus Lees-McRae. He finished the week with three goals and an assist for seven points.

Rump, a sophomore from Buxtehude, Germany, led the Cobras to a season-opening 1-1 draw against No. 3 Nova Southeastern. He recorded five saves in the match, allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of action.
