NCAA Women's Soccer Games To Watch Oct. 30 - Nov. 5
Here’s a look ahead at the games to watch for the week ahead in the BIG EAST, GLIAC, SAC and Landmark Conference.
FloFC is broadcasting college soccer matches from NCAA Divisions I, II and III all season long, with each week bringing a new, exciting slate of matchups to check out from its partner conferences.
Here’s a look ahead at the games to watch for the week ahead in the BIG EAST, GLIAC, SAC and Landmark Conference:
BIG EAST: UConn Vs. Georgetown
It was all chalk in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship this past weekend, as No. 3 UConn shooed away No. 6 Butler and No. 4 Providence, outlasted No. 5 St. John’s. Now in the semifinals, the top seeds will come out to play. The No. 2 Hoyas and the Huskies played to a 0-0 draw in their regular season meeting, but it was far from boring as the two teams combined for 29 shots and 15 corners. This time around, however, there will be a winner — and a conference tournament finalist confirmed.
GLIAC: Michigan Tech Vs. Northern Michigan
It’s decision week in the GLIAC, as three possible teams are still in the hunt for the league’s regular season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Two of those teams play each other — and they also happen to be massive rivals on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Wildcats, on 28 conference points, need a draw to clinch the title regardless of what happens between second-placed Grand Valley State (on 26 points) against Davenport later in the day. Tech, also on 26 points, can completely foil those plans by beating NMU and getting three points out of it, though it would need Davenport to prevent GVSU from winning as the Lakers hold the tiebreaker with the Huskies.
SAC: Lenoir-Rhyne Vs. Catawba
If you’ve been following the SAC women’s soccer season, this choice as game of the week in the league is completely obvious. The nation’s No. 1 team in Division II (as of the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll), Catawba was upset in nonconference play last week by Georgia College, ending its dreams of a flawless regular season. It can still go perfect in SAC play, however, but so can the No. 13 Bears, who like Catawba, are 10-0 in the league but unlike Catawba (at 12-0-3) haven't lost. The winner gets the SAC title outright, so expect nothing less than a barnburner.
Landmark: Susquehanna Vs. Drew
Drew has got to be miffed that it missed out on a top-two seed and first-round bye to the Landmark Women’s Soccer Championship after it lost its regular season finale to Susquehanna 2-0 — a result which subsequently helped the River Hawks get into the bracket for certain as the No. 6 seed. Less than a week later, the Rangers could exact revenge and get into the final four anyway as the winner of this match will face No. 2 Catholic in a Thursday semifinal
