Women's Soccer Games To Watch This Week Sept. 18-Sept. 24
Here’s a look ahead at the women's soccer games to watch for the week ahead on FloFC, including Catawba vs. Wingate.
FloFC is broadcasting college soccer matches from NCAA Divisions I, II and III all season long, with each week bringing a new, exciting slate of matchups to check out from its partner conferences.
Here’s a look ahead at the games to watch for the week ahead in the BIG EAST, CAA, GLIAC, SAC and Landmark Conference:
BIG EAST: Xavier Vs. DePaul
Xavier has blitzed to a 7-2 start, holding the best overall record at the moment in the BIG EAST, but the No. 17-ranked Musketeers are probably wishing they got a pair of 1-0 defeats to Illinois and Lamar back. On a five-match winning run against the Blue Demons dating to 2018, XU will look to vent any frustrations during the first weekend of conference play.
CAA: Hofstra Vs. UNCW
The Pride took a little bit to get going, but have ripped off five straight victories with a trio of wins in CAA play to be the league’s last team left standing with a flawless, no-tie or no-loss record against conference opponents.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are starting to find form after a rough 0-4 start to their season, winning three of their past four matches as of Monday evening—including a 7-0 drubbing of Hampton on Thursday. Something’s got to give.
GLIAC: Michigan Tech Vs. Ferris State
MTU was the only team in the GLIAC to win both of its opening two games in league play, with this past Sunday’s win over previously-unbeaten Parkside being an especially impressive result following GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Seulgi Lee’s match-winning goal in a 1-0 victory.
Meanwhile, it’s a big week for Ferris State, who were a national semifinalist a year ago in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs haven’t picked up a win in four matches and get both nationally-ranked Northern Michigan plus the in-form Huskies back-to-back.
SAC: Catawba Vs. Wingate
Catawba isn’t just beating teams, it's decimating them. Incredibly, after only five games, fourth-ranked Catawba has already scored 30 (!) goals, with graduate midfielder Sydney Jimmo notching a national-high eight (with two assists) by herself, and it’s not as if the program’s playing lesser talents—Catawba beat Columbus State, a national semifinalist a season ago, on Sept. 8 in a 6-5 shootout.
Wingate, meanwhile, is unbeaten at 4-0-1 going into Wednesday with all four wins coming via shutout and just one goal conceded all season to this point. But can the Bulldogs stop the Catawba onslaught, or will it be broken like the rest of the defenses that it’s faced?
Landmark: Goucher Vs. Lycoming
Welcome to the Landmark Conference, Lycoming, which will play its debut match in the league against Goucher this weekend after the Warriors joined from the Middle Atlantic Conference. It’s tough to figure out Lycoming at the moment due to the fact that it’s both won a match 7-1 and participated in a scoreless draw.
