SAC Women's Weekly Awards - Sept. 12
The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women’s Soccer Players of the Week.
The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for games played in during the second week of the 2023 season. Catawba’s Helen Summerell was voted the Offensive Player of the Week while Lenoir-Rhyne’s Ria Acton was voted the Defensive Player of the Week.
Summerell, a redshirt junior from Statesville, N.C., scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the 6-5 win over No. 17 Columbus State on Friday night. She also added an assist in the top-20 shutdown.
Acton, a graduate student from Leicester, England, was a huge part of the defense that kept Lees-McRae (3-0) and Tusculum (3-0) off the scoreboard this week with two shutouts. She added a goal and an assist in each game.
