The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for games played in during the seventh week of the 2023 season. Catawba’s Helen Summerell was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Lincoln Memorial’s Bente Latenstein was named the Defensive Player of the week.

Summerell, a redshirt junior from Statesville, N.C., scored three goals on the week including the game-winner over regionally ranked North Georgia on Wednesday before a pair of goals in the 4-1 win at Carson-Newman on Saturday. Summerell ranks tied for third in the conference with seven goals this season.

Latenstein, a junior from Amsterdam, Netherlands, averaged 7 saves per game with a .737 save percentage this week. In Wednesday’s match versus Carson-Newman, she recorded three saves and followed by tallying 11 saves versus Wingate on Saturday.
